New Technology Reports Help You

NTRs help you

Submitting an NTR is not only good for NASA and society… it’s also good for you

When you submit an NTR for a new technology or improvement, you open the door to opportunities you might not have anticipated. Of course, there is the satisfaction of knowing that your work helped others—either within NASA or throughout society. But there are also a wide-range of benefits for innovators:

  • Whether you are a civil servant, contractor, grantee, or funding recipient, NTRs are a critical step in ensuring that your intellectual property can be properly protected.
  • NTRs are advantageous if you wish to share research at conferences and in journals. The NTR enables NASA to evaluate whether the intellectual property must be protected before you disclose it.
Note: NASA innovators should always submit an NTR as well as all other required documentation before sending any information about your work outside the Agency.
  • NTRs make you eligible for awards and recognition programs, including those offered by NASA's Inventions and Contributions Board and external organizations such as R&D magazine and the Federal Laboratory Consortium.
  • Patented inventions licensed to companies earn royalties—and in many cases, these dollars are shared with the innovators.

NTRs are an excellent way to document and expand the important R&D you're doing. Learn more about NTRs and then report your NTR today.
